CARPORT ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTION

Thank you for purchasing our Carport Kit.

Assembly of a carport will require you some simple skills, simple tools like electric drill, rivet gun and tin snips. It also involves some lifting.
Please notice that this assembly instruction is only a guide to the process. Please consult the professional installer if required.
Use the safety rules and regulations working with electric tools and follow the general construction safety rules.

1. Installation on a slab.
Please make sure that the slab is larger then the maximum carport measurements for at least 200 mm each side. You can fix the posts directly to the slab. When you install the posts and before you fix them, check the squareness of your base between the posts. For that you will have to check the distances between the diagonals. They have to be the same.

2. Installation on the footings.
The footings should be 400 X 400 mm wide by 600 mm deep with a flat, levelled surface. Make sure that the base formed by the footings is square by measuring the diagonals. Keep the surface levelled and flat.

3. General assembly tips.
The posts are fixed to the slab or footings by M12 dyno- bolts (4 for each posts). Check their vertical positioning with a level.
Fix the C-sections to the posts with flat screws to hold them in the position. This connection is a temporary one. You can keep these screws or remove them lately.
The roof trusses are coming assembled (for a Dutch Gable and Hip roof carports some assembly is required). The two external trusses are shorter then the internal trusses. Use them first on the ends of the carport. Lift the trusses and fix them into the positions on the C-section with the bolts. You might need some help to hold them up in the position while you are fixing them.
Fix the external roof trusses with long M12 bolts (2 per each end).
Install the internal roof trusses with the short M12 bolts. Make sure all of the bolts are tight.
For Hip and Ducth gable carports see the truss plan attached to your carport kit paperwork. The truses will be marked as per plan. Frames for the Hip or a Dutch Gable carports will have 4 C-sections that should be joint together with L-shaped plates.

4. Roof Installation
Use the general safety rules while on the roof. Use soft and no-slippery choose, do not walk close to the edge. Step only on the pans of the profile (the lowest part of the profile). Do not step on the rib.

Install the roof battens. The first roof baten is formed by the C-Section. The second batten is installed at 270 mm. All the following battens are installed at 350 mm centres.

For the Gable carport the roofing sheets are instaled starting from the right bottom corner. Put t

If the gable filler is provided, cut it to size and install on the A-pex using the flat-headed screws.
Install the barge caps. You might need to cut it to size with tin snips.
Install the ridge cap over the sealing strip. Starting from one side, line up the ridge caps and fix them in every point where it touches the rib of the roofing sheets. Push the sealing strip 10 mm up as you go fixing the screws. Make sure that the screws go through the sealing strip holding it. Install the ridge cap ends if provided.

5. Finishing assembly, gutters and flashings
Fix the C-section flashing with tex screws (if flashings are supplied) supplied.
Fix the gutter brackets allowing a waterfall to the side of the downpipes. Normal waterfall is 1 mm per 1 m. So if the length is 6 m the fall should be arround 6 mm. Put first bracket on one end and fix last bracket on the other end (6 mm lower). Run a string between them. Mark positions for the interim brackets with 1.2 m intervals. Fix the remaining brackets witn tex screws.
Check the gutter length. You might need to cut it to size with tin snips.
Fix the gutter ends and the gutter outlet. You will need to cut a hole for the gutter outlet with tin snips.
Fix the gutter to the brackets and clip the locks.
